Bells of Lazonby World Bread Awards 2017 Loaf Winner

Our recently launched artisan sourdough bread range is already making waves in the Baking industry – with our Lazonby White Sourdough Loaf being awarded a bronze medal at the recent Tiptree World Bread Awards.

There were over 600 loaves submitted from all corners of the UK, across the range of categories, and an army of 86 judges anonymously sampled all of the breads to decide on the winners.

The chair of judges, Stephen Hallam said the submissions were “more competitive than ever”.

The judging took place at Westminster Hall, London, in September and all of the final medal winners were announced on 17th October.

Michael Bell, our Managing Director said: “We are delighted with this result.

“To be given a medal on our first time of entering the competition, is a real credit to the artisan bread team, who have worked so hard to perfect the recipes of these breads!”

The new range, which is available across all 28 Booths stores has exceeded all expectation in terms of sales, with more than 6000 customers buying a freshly baked sourdough loaf every week.

We have launched a social media campaign alongside the success of the artisan sourdough bread launch, where we are encouraging everyone to post photographs of how they use their sourdoughs with the hashtag #useyourloaf.

“We hope this campaign will help to showcase how versatile the sourdough range is and drive further awareness of the bread range to a wider audience”

A winning entry will be announced each week during the campaign and every winner will be awarded a hand-carved Bells Breadboards.
